Leadership

The concept of Leadership has been debated and discussed for centuries, and it continues to be a priority for businesses today.

Theories have changed over time – from the ‘great man’ theory in the 1930s, to the realisation today that it’s less about the hero-leader and more about the servant leader, an emotionally intelligent leader at the service of his/ her team. Leadership skills aren’t merely a “nice to have”, they’re essential to business performance – productivity in the UK is the second weakest among the G7 nations and growing at its slowest rate since the 1900s (Independent) and reviving productivity in Ireland’s business sector is the key to boosting future output and wages (OECD).

It is vital that we develop our leaders - skilled leaders (and managers) create engaged teams. Engaged teams are productive teams.

Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence

Emotional intelligence (EI) is a set of emotional and social skills that collectively establish how we perceive and express ourselves, and how we use emotional information in an effective and meaningful way.

According to Harvard Business Review, studies indicate that emotional intelligence may be the key attribute that distinguishes outstanding performers from those who are merely adequate, and Goleman (Harvard lecturer and author of internationally best-selling book Emotional Intelligence) found direct ties between emotional intelligence and measurable business results. EI is cited by the World Economic Forum as one of the 10 skills you’ll need to thrive in 2020 and is a skill which can be developed throughout life.

We’ll work together using world-leading EQ-i 2.0® model as a tool to understand your areas of strength, and to identify potential areas for development across five composites, and their constituent components, as illustrated in the model below.

EQ-i 2.0® can be used as part of a personal development programme, leadership programme, or for team development. The EQ-360 allows leaders to receive feedback from peers, managers, direct reports, and others on how they leverage their emotional intelligence.
